Supernatural 10x21 "Dark Dynasty"

Sigh.

Recap/review of Supernatural 10x21 'Dark Dynasty' by freshfromjenI just... sigh. Really? You finally have a likable female recurring character on the show, so of course the best thing to do is kill her. I know it's "finale time" and all that, so the stakes must be big and whatever, but personally I'm disappointed that they killed off Charlie. One more time: sigh.

But fine, I'll get to the recap, because that's what I do. Sam recruits Charlie to help decode the Book of the Damned, because Rowena is having a tough time, as apparently the codex is also coded. He calls in Castiel to help keep the peace between the two, while he goes back to help Dean on a case and pretend like they aren't doing all of that in secret.

The case they're working on this week brings back the Styne family from some episodes back, who are in search of the book. In performing a ritual, one of the sons, Eldon, kills a girl and leaves the body along with video of him jumping from three stories and landing perfectly fine. You know, not weird and suspicious at all. The brothers catch wind of this, but the Stynes are on the lookout for them as well, and try to corner Dean while he's out getting pizza. Dean kills one of them, but captures Eldon.

Meanwhile, back at the mysterious wherever-it-is place where the other three are working on the book, Charlie is getting rattled by Rowena's many comments about her. And it all started to become clear here that they were heading in the direction of killing her, even though I didn't want it to happen. While Castiel takes Rowena into another room to giver her some space, Charlie decides to be an idiot and bolts to go to a motel for true alone time. Seriously?

Recap/review of Supernatural 10x21 'Dark Dynasty' by freshfromjen
Because back with the brothers, Dean is getting some information out of Eldon that seems rather hokey, but whatever. Apparently Styne is actually short for Frankenstein, and the family has been around for centuries causing mayhem for their own profit. He also lets slip to Dean that the book can't be burned. So, Dean leans into Sam about it all and finds out the truth - that he's been secretly working on a way to get rid of the curse. Dean is rightly pissed, especially after Eldon escapes. After, you know, just tearing off his arm.

He tracks down Charlie to the motel she is holed up in just as she is able to crack the code. Though she manages to get the Winchesters on the phone, and they tell her to just give the dude what he wants, she instead uploads the code somewhere and then destroys the computer. She holds out a knife to defend herself against Eldon, but the dude is all Frankenstein-y, so when the brothers show up to save her, they're too late. And time for another sigh.

Meanwhile, Crowley is a bit bored and talking to the woman Rowena transformed into a hamster some episodes back. The hamster tells Crowley about some person who is involved in something or other, and sends one of his minions off to find said person. At this point I still have no idea what Crowley's end game is here, and this didn't really help things.

Random Thoughts:

- Well, is anyone else as disappointed as I am that Charlie died? She was one of the few lighter characters in this dark Supernatural world, and I'm kind of pissed they killed her off.

- What exactly happens if they do manage to get the Mark off of Dean, anyway? Aren't there some kind of consequences? You know, a price or something? They were hinting at always needing a balance for things in life, so what would the balance be here?

- I don't really know what Castiel or Crowley's goals are at this point. Rowena just kind of wants to cause havoc and get rid of the Mark and Crowley himself, but the other two guys? Yeah.

- If this family has been around so long, causing so much havoc, how have they remained under the radar from hunters and the like? Sure, the Men of Letters had stuff on the Stynes, but they didn't connect them to Frankenstein or anything. Seems like something they would have connected.

- Two more episodes to go. I'm not even sure what I'm hoping for.

Quotes:

Sam: So now we need to break a code... to break a code?

Dean: They helped Hitler get started, and God knows what else. Probably disco.

Charlie: Of course, he doesn't know. Jeez, the two of you.

Rowena: Hell's Bells. More distractions. Which are you, witch or nerd?
Castiel: Angel.

Castiel: When I was human, I grew very fond of these pork rinds.

Crowley: Fail on pain of infinite pain.

Supernatural 10x18 "Book of the Damned"

Can I just say - finally?! After so many episodes where it just felt like blah blah let's waste some time until we get to the interesting stuff, tonight was actually some interesting stuff. Finally!

Recap/review of Supernatural 10x18 "Book of the Damned"As you may or may not remember, Charlie went off to points unknown to see what she could figure out about the whole Mark business. Turns out, she was able to turn up the Book of the Damned after searching pretty much around the globe. Only now she has some creepy dudes on her tail with strange markings on their arms. Luckily, she manages to get away from them, but they're able to track the book with this magical compass, so she calls up Sam and Dean for help.

They meet her in one of Bobby's cabins, as apparently he has quite a few in random spots, and she gives them the dish on the book. Basically, it's in such an ancient language that no one can read it. Some nun had dark visions many years ago and wrote the book on pieces of her own skin in her own blood. Yeah.... that's definitely a book you want to be messing with. And on top of all that, the book seems to be sort of calling out to Dean, wanting him to take it and run away with it.

Eventually, Sam is able to figure out that it's in some ancient dialect, but the words don't seem to make any sense when translated. Charlie deduces that it must be in code, only they aren't having any luck in deciphering it. Meanwhile, Dean has looked up the dudes who were after Charlie, and they are part of an old family called the Stynes that have basically caused mayhem over the years thanks to the help of the book, which they lost about 800 years ago or thereabouts, and now they want it back. Dean runs into one of them, Jacob, at the local gas station when picking up some snacks, and though he is able to fend them off, they follow him back to the cabin. He urges Sam to burn the damn book of the damned, because nothing good can come of using it, despite the dude saying that there really is a cure for the Mark inside it. They have some fisticuffs, and Sam throws the book into the fire - or does he?

Recap/review of Supernatural 10x18 "Book of the Damned"I admit I saw this twist coming, because duh, when Sam was talking about how he couldn't keep hunting if his brother wasn't around, you just knew he wasn't really going to get rid of the seeming one shot at getting it done. Instead, he pretend to burn the book, and then took it to Rowena in secret to have her decipher it and remove the Mark. What will be the price? That remains to be seen. Dun dun dun.

MEANWHILE! Castiel is on the hunt for his grace with human-Metatron in tow. Metatron is enjoying the human existence thanks to some waffles, but is clearly delaying their search for the grace. Finally, he leads Cas to a library that he says he had another angel give him clues to where Cas' grace is hidden. That is - he had another angel hide it so he couldn't be tortured for the information. Of course, Metatron is always sneaky and secretly writes some angel-hurting sigils around the library, putting Castiel down for the count. Turns out, he had hidden the demon tablet there, which he takes and runs off with. BUT, he also really did hide Cas' grace there, which Cas manages to find and restores himself. So, no more worrying about Cas' missing grace.

And in a fun little scene, Cas and Charlie meet. I guess I never realized they hadn't met before, but it was a cute scene, and he healed Charlie's bullet wound (oh yeah, she was shot in that opening scene too) and her carpal tunnel. Aw.

Random Thoughts:

- Is it just me, or did Cas' angel wings not look quite so healthy when he got his grace back? They looked kind of falling apart.

- Did anyone really believe that Sam actually burned that book? I mean, you knew Rowena was going to have to come into play in all of this somehow, and seeing as it's some kind of spellbook, it only makes sense she would have to get involved with it. What that means for them in the long run, who knows. Because who knows what the heck she's going to want in exchange for her help. Seems a bad idea to let her stay in possession of such a thing.

- What does the demon tablet do? I honestly can't remember if they ever found the demon tablet before, or if it was only the angel tablet? Man, canon. I just know it's probably not good if Metatron is running around with it.

- Did I count not one but two classic rock songs in this episode? Nice!

Quotes:

Metatron: Goosebumps! Don't even get me started on those. Creepy. And yet, arousing.

Dean: When was the last time either one of us was on a beach?
Sam: Never.

Metatron: You were human. Don't you miss this?
Castiel: No. I don't miss digestion. Indigestion.

Metatron: Sorry about the mess. I guess I'm lactose intolerant.
Castiel: Let's never speak of it again.

Charlie: I thought you'd be shorter.

Supernatural 10x11 "There's No Place Like Home"

The Mark of Cain is looming ever larger in Dean's mind, so much so that he's decided to try a cleanse of sorts - no more eating greasy foods or indulging in the booze, just some egg whites and water. But the darkness is still there, showing up in a new tremble in Dean's hand, especially as he holds a nasty knife. Good thing we've got a nice parallel storyline to help our wee minds understand what's going on with him this week!

Felicia Day as Charlie BradburyBefore the brothers can find Cain to ask him about the Mark, they must attend to some other business - namely, Charlie is back from Oz, and is apparently wrecking havoc, beating up seemingly innocent people. The boys soon find out these people aren't so innocent. Rather, they are all tied to the death of Charlie's parents. Or should we say Celeste's parents? Apparently that is her real name! Anyhow, they track down the next person she will be targeting, and find her to be super badass, to the point where she can kind of take down Dean.

Whaaa?

Charlie drives off, but then another Charlie drives up. Oh! There are two Charlies. Basically, back in Oz, they were going to lose the war, so Charlie decided to let wizard release the darkest part of her self in order to help win the war. Well, they did, but she did some pretty terrible things to do it, so Good Charlie didn't want to let her back inside. Dark Charlie was pissed and came back to the real world to track down their parents' killer in order to win Good Charlie back over, or something. Only she breaks the key to Oz, which was the thing that performed their magical separation, so right now... they're stuck. Which is no good, because if you hurt Dark Charlie, it also hurts Good Charlie. Got it?

Okay! Well, Good Charlie and Sam go off to try to see if they can find another key to Oz. They discover that a former Man of Letters had gone to Oz in the past, eventually came back thanks to the help of L. Frank Baum, and went into a witness protection of sorts. They set off to find him.

Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester in Supernatural 10x11Meanwhile, Dean has tracked down the guy who killed Charlie's parents, and waits there for Dark Charlie to show up. Show up she does, but convinces Dean that she just wants to talk to the guy, nothing more. That, of course, is a lie. She just kills him, even after he is rather apologetic. Dean heads to the local watering hole to think about drowning his sorrows, only to have a strategically timed conversation with DC, who then steals the Impala to go off in search of GC and Sam.

GC and Sam have tracked down the dude and find out that he is actually also the good version of himself. The dark version of himself is the wizard back in Oz. The only way to get them back together is to mortally wound the good guy to get the wizard to come and save him, thus bringing a key with him. They do, and the wizard appears, but as soon as he does he starts trying to kill Sam. GC has to kill the good guy in order to also kill the wizard and prevent him killing Sam. Meanwhile, Dean has stopped DC from going inside by, you know, punching her a lot, satisfying his inner Mark rage stuff for the moment.

In the end, they are able to reunite the two halves of Charlie to make her whole again. She lives to fight another day, but not with the boys, and hopefully not to die at some close time in the future. She vows to help them figure out this Mark thing, and forgives Dean for the beating, even though he's not so keen to forgive himself, which is, as Charlie points out, kind of his thing.

Random Thoughts:

- This was probably a pretty fun episode for Felicia Day to do, getting to play the badass side of Charlie while also doing the more funny side-kicky side too.

- They were laying it on a little thick with the comparisons between Dean and Dark Charlie, sheeeeesh.

- I enjoyed not having the whole angel and demon of it all for this episode. While certainly Castiel and Crowley are big parts of the show now, sometimes it's nice to just have the brothers doing their thing, even if it did still involve a big recurring guest star.

- Next week's episode looks like it could be pretty funny, but then the one with old Dean wasn't as great as it could've been, so who knows if Teen Dean will be better. Too bad we can't get some Teen Sam in there too, but alas I think Colin Ford probably looks older than the current Teen Dean, though technically Dylan Everett is one year older than Colin. Hmm... hmm...

Quotes:

Dean: As soon as we get rid of this demonic tramp stamp, I am back on the booze, burgers, and... more booze.

Dark Charlie: Should've known Rocket and Groot would track me down.

Dark Charlie: You lied to yourself... that's kind of your move.

Dean: Oh you son of a bitch!

Dark Charlie: You hit like a girl who never learned how to hit.

Sam: Be careful out there.
Charlie: Does that sound like either of me?

Supernatural 9x04 "Slumber Party"

Recap/review of SUPERNATURAL 9x04 'Slumber Party' by freshfromthe.com
I'm not in Kansas anymore.
Though they kicked Cas out of the bunker last week, the brothers Winchester are still hanging out in the home of the Men of Letters. Sam has been investigating what went on with the map board going haywire when all of the angels landed, and thinks there must be some way to wire it to track the angels. Only the decades-old computer they find downstairs is really out of their league, so they have to call up an expert.

Yep, Charlie's back. And it turns out she's been doing some hunting on her own in the meantime. The boys are less than approving of her hunting alone, and with good reason, but nonetheless it's to business. She's able to hotwire the computer or something, but before they can use it, they notice something weird on the wall. You see, earlier, when they were messing with the computer, they knocked over this bottle of liquid that spilled onto the wall. And now a girl spills out of a cocoon-like thing that grew from the liquid. Just who is this girl?

Recap/review of SUPERNATURAL 9x04 'Slumber Party' by freshfromthe.com
Auntie Em, Auntie Em!
Well, let's flash back to the 1930s Men of Letters to find out! It turns out that she's none other than Dorothy, the Dorothy that went to Oz. Because apparently now we can insert completely new "fairy worlds" into the world of Supernatural, and that's okay. But, this Dorothy is more of a hunter than a girl in distress. She's brought the Wicked Witch to the bunker to find a way to kill her. Alas, the Men of Letters don't know how to do that, so she ends up doing a spell that locks her and the witch inside that bottle.

So, back in the present, the trio gets caught up on Dorothy and the Witch, who came to this world looking for some key. Luckily, Dorothy knows just what key she means. That is, a key that opens any door directly into Oz. She believes the witch would like to go back to Oz and decimate it for good.

Luckily, there are now ways to at least slow the witch down thanks to some tireless research done by some old Men of Letters. Charlie whips up some poppy bullets and they head out to find the key that Dean conveniently had just seen not too long ago, and also has somewhere in his room. He and Charlie go to get the key, only to get the witch after them. She goes to green lightning bolt Dean, only Charlie jumps in the way, which kills her. But because this is Supernatural and death means nothing, Dean asks Zeke to bring her back. Zeke agrees, but says that he's only at half strength so this is going to mean he'll have to stay in Sam longer.

Recap/review of SUPERNATURAL 9x04 'Slumber Party' by freshfromthe.com
V-necks for Hunters.
Anyway, when Charlie reminds Dorothy that the stories in the books aren't all lies told by her father to gloss over the truth, Dorothy has a brainwave - she still has the ruby slippers, and they have magic in them. Pointy heel magic, I guess. And just plain red pumps, no glittering rubies to be seen. Dean and Sam get possessed by the witch, which is really weird because um, Sam is already possessed? They do battle with Dorothy while Charlie slips away just as the witch is opening the portal to Oz and beckoning her minions to come to her, come to her, my pretties. Yes, she did not want to go back to Oz, but rather bring her baddies to our world.

But, no luck for her, because Charlie saves the day, killing her with the red high heels. And, because she's had a nice connection with Dorothy, Dorothy invites her along to go back to Oz with her and finish whatever rebellion she started. And, because Charlie has been lamenting the lack of magic in the hunting life, she of course decides to go with her. So, I guess that gets rid of Charlie for a while.

Random Thoughts:

- Game of Thrones references! Always love me a good GoT reference. Also fun to see what the boys do in their downtime, because honestly, they must have some downtime, you know?

- There's a lot of talk about how Sam hasn't moved in to the Men of Letters bunker and how he's never really had a home and anytime he has, it's pretty much gone up in flames, blah di blah. Age old discussions of misspent childhoods for $200, Alex.

- How many times are we going to see someone die arbitrarily so Zeke has to save them? Can we be done with that now? At least Sam finally heard the name Zeke and is wondering just who that is. Sam ain't no dummy. Dean's stories aren't making a whole lot of logical sense.

- When the young, impressionable Man of Letters was killed after being all starry-eyed about everything, it seemed to me that meant Charlie would die too because of the symmetry and whatnot, but then I thought to myself, no, that would be too obvious. Well. She did die. Ba dum bum.

- Next week's episode looks stupid, I'm sorry. Do we not remember the last time we had some dog-centic storyline and how terrible that episode was?

Quotes:

Dean: This was your idea?
Sam: Do you see anyone else in here?

Charlie: I took down a teenage vampire and a ghost. Which sounds like a YA novel when I say it out loud.

Sam: So... you've been hunting.
Dean: Alone.
Charlie: I know. Not a good idea according to the Supernatural books.
Sam: You really can't delete those from the internet?
Charlie: Not even I can do that.

Sam: Nothing. Nobody. No bells. No.

Charlie: You keep your porn meticulously organized, but not--
Dean: Don't judge me.

Charlie: Ding dong, bitches.

Supernatural 8x20 "Pac-Man Fever"

Welcome back from the mini hiatus, peeps. Only a few more episodes to go until season eight is over, if you can believe it. I suspect we'll get two more seasons and go full decade style, though sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to keep doing these posts. They take time, man!

Recap/review of SUPERNATURAL 8x20 'Pac-Man Fever' by freshfromthe.com
I suspect Dean hugs are pretty great.
Anyway, this episode featured the return of new guest star favorite Felicia Day as Charlie. The opening was interesting, actually, because you're sort of like wait, are we in the past? Is this another time travel thing? But no, spoiler alert, it's not. Also different from the norm in that it wasn't some rando getting killed but rather featured Dean.

Back in the Men of Letters bunker, the boys are trying to figure out where Kevin is, without much luck. Sam is looking like shit, the second trial having taken more out of him than he expected. So much so that he can barely stand up straight and certainly can't shoot straight. Which means that when they get an email from Charlie saying she's got a case for them, Dean is in no mood to let him come along on the case. I'm sure we all know just about how long that lasts. Charlie, however, does tag along to investigate the weirdness (basically some people's insides have been jelly-fied, with a weird blue hand print left on them, and no one knows why, etc), and we have some similar upside down FBI badge shenanigans that always seem to plague Dean whenever he's with a hunting newbie.

Recap/review of SUPERNATURAL 8x20 'Pac-Man Fever' by freshfromthe.comSam shows up despite being told to stay behind, which turns out to be rather helpful later on. Working together, they figure out that the thing that's been killing the poor hapless people is something related to a djinn, which means they know how to kill it, but they aren't quite sure who it is since they can pass for people.

Charlie decides to take a leave of absence at this point while the boys do some more research, but they are rather concerned about her, because she's been acting a bit fishy since she arrived. Good thing they've been paying attention, too, because she ends up getting captured by the djinn-abe in question. They split up to try to find her, and Dean discovers that she's been in town to visit her mother, who's been in a coma in the nearby hospital for 16 years. Sam, meanwhile, is able to track down the djinn-abe, and therefore Charlie, only to find that the djinn has already dosed Charlie with the blue voodoo. And even after killing the djinn and giving Charlie the antidote, she's not waking up.

Recap/review of SUPERNATURAL 8x20 'Pac-Man Fever' by freshfromthe.comSince it's not a regular djinn, the antidote doesn't apparently work the same. So, Dean ends up having to drink some African dream root to go inside Charlie's head to help her get out. Inside, she's battling super vampires, video game style, but every time she beats the level, she just gets sent back to the beginning. As we learned with Dean's foray into djinn land, the only way you can get out is if you stop the dream. In this case, stop fighting. It ends up being a somewhat sappy moment involving Charlie having to let go of her mom and such to get out.

On the outside, Sam has to fight off another djinn, and despite his weakened state, he is able to do so rather easily since said djinn is just a teenager without much skill. He still looks like crap, though.

In the end, Charlie decides she has to say goodbye to her mom for real, while Dean decides to give Sam a hug and hunker down to find Kevin and get this trial business done with already.

Random Thoughts:

- Pretty enjoyable episode overall, always fun to get geeky references in Charlie episodes. Found out more background information about her, though I'm not sure everyone was especially clamoring for that? Sure.

- What exactly are these trials doing to Sam? In the preview for next week's he said something like they're changing him. Changing him how? Hmm.

- Charlie read all of the Carver Edlund books and seemed to gain a new respect for the brothers through them. She also called them her boys at the end, so I mean, she's definitely kind of representative of the fandom in a less gross way than Becky.

- Do you ever wonder where your djinn would send you - for either your happy place or your fear place? I really have no idea!

Quotes:

Dean, saying what many of us have been thinking about Sam's hair: I'm telling you, give me five minutes with some clippers...

Dean: That's why we don't have nice things, Sam.

Charlie, to Sam: Sorry you have zero luck with the ladies.

Charlie: Son of a pantsuit.

Dean: Don't quote me to me.

Sam, later Charlie: I hate that thing. And I want one.

Supernatural 8x11 "LARP and the Real Girl"

Recap/review of SUPERNATURAL 8x11 'LARP and the Real Girl' by freshfromthe.com
One of these things is not like the other.
I don't know if any of you have seen or heard of this new reality competition show, King of the Nerds, but it seems rather serendipitous that this episode aired right when that show has started. Also? It's kind of awesome, particularly if you have any nerd tendencies. And if you watch Supernatural, I think you might. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, no sir.

After the events of last episode, Dean thinks they should relax a little and have some fun, but Sam is all work and no play. It helps that Garth calls them up with a job nearby, otherwise what excuse could he have had? Anyway, some people are being killed in rather old-timey ways, after a mysterious tree appears on their arms. The boys question one of these dudes before he's killed and find out he's part of this LARPing group, Moondoor. And who else happens to be part of this group? None other than our favorite hacker girl, Charlie (returning guest star Felicia Day). The chances?! I mean, really.

Of course, Charlie is less than thrilled to see Sam and Dean show up in her new life, since she had to go completely underground and basically get herself a new identity after she last had them come into her life. Though Dean suggests she get out of dodge while they handle whatever is going on, Charlie decides that since she's the queen of the fictional realm, she can't leave her subjects behind to be killed. Ah, heroism.

Recap/review of SUPERNATURAL 8x11 'LARP and the Real Girl' by freshfromthe.com
Smoldering stare? Puh-lease. That's easy.
While Sam tries to find out more about the mystery tree symbol that keeps appearing on people before they die, Dean (who has to dress the part of someone of Moondoor) and Charlie go around with a photo of it, and find out that it's the shadow orc king's symbol. Of course it's the shadow orcs. I mean, shady. Dean sends Charlie back to find Sam for back up before they encounter said orcs, but Charlie ends up getting captured by a totes creepy looking figure in a black outfit and some kind of bone mask thing. I don't know about you, but that thing was totally freaking me out.

Sam and Dean hook back up and realize that Charlie's missing, so they enlist a captured shadow orc and the help one of the queen's dudes, Boltar or something. They track down Charlie to this random tent in the woods, where she has been hanging out with the shadow figure. Said shadow figure has turned out to be a fairy who's been imprisoned by someone using a book of dark magic. In order to free her, they must destroy the book. But who could be the person controlling her?

Recap/review of SUPERNATURAL 8x11 'LARP and the Real Girl' by freshfromthe.com
Suits or chainmail?
In what should have been obvious but somehow wasn't to me, it turns out to be her squire or whatever, the Boltar guy, who was just a little too into wanting to be the king in the game. There ensues a tussle, wherein Charlie must become the hero of the hour and stab the book of dark magic. It was all actually rather easy, but nonetheless entertaining.

With Boltar taken off to fairyland to pay for his crimes, Charlie decides to stick around rather than assume another new identity. Sam also agrees with Dean that they could both use a little bit of fun, and in the most hilarious part of the night, they go full Braveheart in the final battle for Moondoor. I feel like they must've been laughing a lot during the making of this episode, right?

Random Thoughts:

- Interesting how Dean thought the LARPing thing looked cool instead of lame. He's really just a nerd at heart.

- Horribly coincidental that Charlie happened to be involved with this particular LARPing group, or do we pretend that Garth knew she was involved all along when he told them about it? He does seem to be rather all-knowing.

- Was anyone else as creeped out by the black getup and skull? I may have nightmares about it. Anytime a person just stands there and does not interact is creepster extreme anyway.

Quotes:

Sam: It's bad enough you've been tracking us, but it's even worse when you say "You've been Garthed."

Sheriff: These kids today, with their texting and murder.

Lance: They were from me, but they weren't from me me.
Dean: Did you really think that sentence was going to clear things up?

Sam: Nice outfit.
Dean: You love it.

Supernatural 7x20 "The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo"

As far as guest stars go, I'd say Felicia Day is probably one of my favorites so far. I think any nerdy girl can agree, it's nice to see someone we can relate to, right? Especially when she uses her smarts to do some cool crap.

Recap/review of Supernatural 7x20 "The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo" by freshfromthe.com
Would you like to play a game? War Games references FTW!
In any event, now that Ghost Bobby has made himself known to the boys, he is able to finally tell them what he had learned back all those episodes ago when he was shot. That the place for the coordinates was for a dig site. The Leviathans are planning to basically build human slaughterhouses, but first they will make everyone complacent with their turduckens, cure all of any ills, and once the people have been turned into mindless sheep, lead them to their deaths. Fun for all!

But before they can really think about that for anything more than a few seconds, they get a bing on the computer - an email from one late Frank Devereaux, who had set up a device to send Sam and Dean a warning that his harddrive was being hacked, and it just happened to have all of their information on it. But hey, they're able to locate the hard drive in question. Where is it? Um. In the middle of Dick Roman headquarters! Oh joy of joys!

And just who is cracking it? That would be one Charlie Bradbury (or whatever her real name is!), an employee there who happens to excel at hacking. Dick gives her the job, personally, of getting into that hard drive. Only, once she does get into it, her curiosity gets the best of her, and she opens up some of the files, leading her to all of the information on the Leviathans. Since she's semi-normal, she takes Frank to be a Loony Tunes McGee, but when she sees Dick's crony actually turn her manager into one of them before her very eyes, well, that's probably enough to convince anyone, right?

Just in time, too, because Dean and Sam have tracked her down. Once they get on the same page about what's going on, they've got a plan: Charlie will have to break into Dick's office from the inside in order to find the secret information on what the Leviathans have been searching for, or something, even though we hadn't really been made aware they were searching for something until now. She also needs to erase the hard drive, because obviously if Dick knows she could've seen what's on there about him, she would not be long for this world.

Recap/review of Supernatural 7x20 "The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo" by freshfromthe.com
We're not here to hurt you. Just to look pretty.
Since the Winchesters are on every Leviathan's radar, they're stuck in a van while Charlie goes inside to get the job done. Bobby, meanwhile, has grown sulky, because the boys did not want to let him tag along to help with his ghostly powers. So what does he do? Uses his ghostly powers to swayze his flask into Charlie's bag. Why are the brothers so reluctant to let him come along? Because he could go vengeful spirit on Dick, and if he goes down that route, there won't be any getting him back.

Once inside, Charlie manages to maneuver herself into Dick's office via a hilarious flirting session with a guard, and they are able to access his email. It turns out that there's a delivery of a special package about to happen nearby, so Sam and Dean head off to intercept it while Charlie hangs back to finish her job. So just what is in this mysterious package? Some kind of red clay. What may be inside the clay is left for another episode. They switch the package for a Borax bomb.

Only Charlie did not have a chance to make it out of the building before Dick and the package toting crony get bombed. He locks down the joint and goes after her. Things don't look good for our plucky heroine, but Ghost Bobby comes to her rescue this time, knocking her out of the way (and, whoopsie, breaking her arm!), then going after Dick himself. Sam and Dean show up in time to whisk Charlie away, and also the flask, so Bobby can't go 100% vengeful.

They get Charlie's arm fixed up and set her up with a bus ticket to parts unknown to start over. I'm glad she survived, it would've been sad to see her go. But they are more concerned about this whole Ghost Bobby situation. But for now there's not a whole lot to be done about it. Que sera sera.

Random Thoughts:

- Okay. We get it. Bobby says idjits. He doesn't need to say it every single episode.

- The dude who plays Dick Roman has always reminded me of someone, and I've never been able to figure out who... until tonight! I figured it out! Gary Cole. He reminds me of Gary Cole, so good at the evil smarm.

- OMG. Sam talking Harry Potter to Charlie? LOVE. You know I'm a Harry Potter dork. Any of you out there on Pottermore? Not to get sidetracked, but I could really talk about that sorting hat test for at least an hour.

- Interesting use of splitscreen, reminded me of Ocean's 11 or something. Not so sure about using that "hours earlier" device twice in one episode, though I'm sure it was meant to all be part of that same break-in spy show vibe. I did enjoy the reveal of Sam and Dean in that airport scene. Jensen can rock a baseball cap, am I right?

- Anyone know what her ringtone was? It was so quick I didn't really have a chance to figure it out!

- What's with the red clay? Is there something inside? What could it possibly be?
